Asking For What I Need

A produce industry friend recently wrote about asking for what you want. I’m a true believer in this approach, and I appreciated the reminder. Today I’m asking you to raise your hand if you are curious about coaching.

Most of you know that I left the National Mango Board (NMB) at the end of May to pursue my passion for coaching. Right now I’m completing a year-long coach training and certification program. During this period, I need to coach a wide range of people working on lots of different goals. This is the part of the training where I get the skills “in my bones,” and move toward coaching mastery. The program has specific requirements for how many clients I need to maintain and how many hours I need to coach to earn my certification. What I need right now is more clients so I can fulfill these requirements.

I realize that most people don’t understand what coaching is or how it can help them. I first worked with a coach to help me be a better leader at the NMB and I was nervous prior to my first coaching call. I had no idea what to expect. Looking back, I’m so grateful I didn’t let that trepidation stop me. Not only did coaching help me be a better leader, it helped me be a better, happier, more effective human being. If that sounds interesting, let’s have a conversation so you can learn more. If one of your friends, co-workers or employees might be interested, please help me connect with them or send them a link to my website.

A great way for us to test the waters is by setting up a sample coaching session. On that call, you will experience coaching first-hand in a friendly, low-pressure setting. Click here to learn more about the sample session.

Just by signing up for a free session, you will be helping me get closer to my goal. Every call is an opportunity to learn, regardless of the outcome. And if you decide you want to go further with coaching, you’ll get a very attractive rate that will only be in play while I’m in this certification program. I get to coach and you get a fantastic deal, so it’s a win-win!

I want to leave you with one final thought. While the training is important, it takes more than classwork to learn how to be a great coach. The only way to get really great at coaching is to coach and coach and coach some more. I’m a good coach today. I’m striving to be a great coach. I hope you’ll join me on the journey.
