This is a simple concept that we all lose sight of from time to time, so it bears repeating. Our circumstances are quite often happening to us. Sometimes bad stuff happens and we are powerless to change it.
What we do have power over is our perspective through which we view the circumstances. Think of this like a lens or a framework for seeing the situation. That lens is created through the story we tell ourselves. We are constantly narrating in our minds about what is happening. We are constantly deciding and labeling situations as good or bad.
So, if we can tell a different story, we can change the framework through which we view the circumstances, and we can completely change our experience of it.
This is another one of those skills that’s not easy, but it does get easier over time with practice. What do you think? How does your perspective impact how you experience your circumstances?
